Pride School Atlanta, Inc.
- Children Services
Pride School Atlanta, Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose primary purpose is Pride School Atlanta, a democratic school for ages 5-18 that is free of homophobia and transphobia. As an organization, we educate, connect and support people from all other the world who are dealing with issues that crop up around LGBTQQIA issues. Our school opened in August 2016 with 8 students and has served 12 students thus far this school year. In addition to those at Pride School Atlanta, we have supported over 200 youth, educators, and families around the state, country, and the world. We have provided trainings to small faith-based communities, large schools, the State Department, as well as large conferences such as the NCTEnglish convention and the National Urban League's Whitney Young Leadership Conference.
One of our biggest goals is to create a self-sustaining organization that will create campuses that are available to all who need them, regardless of ability to pay. We have raised over $50,000 in 2.5 years with the help of various community partnerships and individual donors, in addition to about $20,000 or more in furniture, materials, and textbooks. Volunteers have donated over $15,000 in time to our school this year as well, if not more.
While other schools may affirm LGBTQQIAAlly people, we are OPEN about it and want the world to know that we honor our LGBTQQIA constituents and their allies. We have created a space where everyone gets to be themselves. While some may see that as grammatically incorrect, we honor those who use they/them/their pronouns.
Please call for directions. Visitors must be invited to the school. We can also meet you at your office for business conversations.
